Modern Slavery Act 2015

January 2025

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement – January 2024

1. Introduction

This statement is made on behalf of Sleep Solutions Ltd.

The Act requires companies to explain each year the steps taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.

Those steps must cover both businesses and supply chains.

We are committed to carrying on our business operations responsibly.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to any proven slavery or human trafficking incidents.

We remain committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships.

We also implement and enforce effective systems and controls.

These controls help ensure slavery and human trafficking do not take place in our business or supply chains.

2. About Sleep Solutions Ltd

We provide products predominately tailored to customers between the ages of 18 & 70 in the UK.

The Kallysleep brand has developed over the years into a recognised and trusted brand among UK consumers.

The nature of our products means we purchase a variety of goods from suppliers within the UK and internationally.

Our supply chain is simple and mostly UK based with 2 suppliers based in Turkey.

3. Risk Assessments

Sleep Solutions continues to operate a risk assessment process for new suppliers.

This process assesses any modern slavery risk during onboarding.

It has been embedded into our Procurement & Supplier Management onboarding process.

For existing suppliers, we previously implemented a risk assessment process across all suppliers.

As part of ongoing monitoring, in 2023 we re-examined existing suppliers across the Sleep Solutions business.

This was done to assess the potential for any residual modern slavery risk.

All other areas were identified as low risk from a modern slavery perspective.

Therefore, no further action was required for those existing suppliers.

4. Due Diligence Questionnaires

Any suppliers identified as high risk are subject to further due diligence procedures.

This includes completing a due diligence questionnaire.

The questionnaire helps assess the level of risk and the steps needed to monitor and manage that risk.

We remain committed to working with suppliers so business is conducted ethically and honestly.

This can involve checking that suppliers understood the questions and answered them correctly.

If required, we work with them to implement corrective action plans.

These plans help rectify areas of non-compliance.

This remains an ongoing process.

If a supplier fails to co-operate with due diligence procedures, we will consider the future relationship.

5. Policies & Training

We are committed to working responsibly and with integrity.

This is set out in our Personal Standards & Ethics Policy.

We require high standards of personal and professional honesty from employees.

This applies in all business dealings and relationships, including with customers, employees and suppliers.

Our Anti-Slavery and Anti-Human Trafficking Policy is also communicated regularly throughout our organisation.

Our policies support employees in detecting and preventing acts of modern slavery.

These policies also form part of our corporate induction process for new employees.

In line with our Anti-Slavery and Anti-Human Trafficking Policy, new agreements with suppliers must be in writing.

They must also contractually oblige the supplier to comply with the Act.

Where possible, each agreement shall give Sleep Solutions Ltd a right of termination.

This applies if a contractor or supplier is proven to have committed slavery or human trafficking offences.

It also applies if they have acted in a manner inconsistent with the Act.

We have therefore developed and implemented specific contractual clauses in our template agreements.

We have continued to distribute training material through our e-learning platform.

This helps ensure a consistent and high level of awareness and understanding of modern slavery.

This training is reviewed and will continue to be rolled out annually.

6. Auditing & Ongoing Compliance

We remain committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking.

Following structural changes within our businesses after the Covid-19 pandemic, we are reviewing our processes.

As part of this work, we want to further develop our processes.

That helps ensure slavery and human trafficking do not take place in our business or supply chains.

As our processes evolve, we aim to identify and monitor appropriate performance indicators.

7. Summary

We have systems in place to:

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas within our businesses and supply chains;

  • Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains;

  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains;

  • Train employees to raise awareness of modern slavery and how to report it; and

  • Protect whistleblowers.

We will continually review and refine these processes to strive to operate to the highest standards at all times.

This statement is dated 01 January 2025.

What is Modern Day Slavery?

Modern Day Slavery refers to situations where individuals are exploited and forced into labor or services.

This includes human trafficking, forced labor, debt bondage, and other abusive practices.

These practices deprive people of freedom.

Modern Day Slavery persists globally and affects millions of individuals.

It is often hidden within supply chains or vulnerable communities.

Recognising this issue is essential for organisations that want prevention and transparency.

Our Approach to Addressing modern slavery statement

Our modern slavery statement reflects our commitment to eradicating forced labour within our operations and supply chains.

We maintain strict policies that require suppliers to adhere to ethical labour standards.

We also conduct regular audits to support compliance.

Training programs for staff and partners promote awareness.

This statement supports continued awareness across our operations and supply chains.
